Smithsonian Magazine recently released  footage from the 1930s of Confederate Veterans giving the actual rebel yell.  While these veterans are certainly past their fighting prime most of them can still give a rebel yell that will cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand up.  I can only imagine how intimidating it would be to hear that sound in the face of an advancing Confederate regiment.  No wonder there is documented proof of the Rebel yell causing Yankee units to route before they were even fired upon!

Even though the recording is not of the best quality it is very valuable to those of us that wish to preserve the sound of the authentic Rebel Yell!
