Darius Rucker and stupid ignorant people like him are true racist . I am tired of people putting down the Confederate Battle Flag that do not have any ideal what its true meaning is and whats worse is they do not want to know the real truth . What it appears he's actually protesting in this song is the fact that the confederate flag is being flown on state property on SC. I don't think he'd object very strongly to people 'celebrating their heritage' by flying their own flags on private property, but it's a different matter when the state does it. That flag, while it does represent southern culture and heritage, also has other less-positive connotations unavoidably associated with it, and I think what Mr. Rucker here is protesting is the fact that the state government appears to be supporting those other connotations by displaying the flag on government property. He's not against southerners, or at least it doesn't strike me that way…although it is your right to not buy his music based on your individual beliefs.

The Confederate Flag is a (internationally recognized) symbol of a nation’s struggle for independence. Ever see an African American wearing African clothes? Long-flowing and colorful robes, and head caps, etc? Why do they wear African clothes, when they were born and raised in the USA? Because they are using their clothes as a symbol of their independence from anglo-american culture and heritage. How is it any different? Should I protest against their clothing as being “hate based”?

I haven't forgotten either, and I thank you for keeping this in everyone's minds. It's ironic that people like Rucker talk about "hating" people, because we respect our Confederate heritage, and understand what it represents. However, he likes to paint us with the typical liberal "racist" brush because we are proud of who we are and where we're from. He'll never get a penny of my money, the talentless SOB!
